Our Teachers

Meet the Teachers of South Coast Music Together®!

Our teachers come from all sorts of backgrounds, but they’re united by a common passion: Sharing the joy of music with children and families in our southern California communities!

All teachers have successfully completed the live Music Together® Teacher Training, which is built on research in early childhood and music development. They are engaging, joyful, intelligent and loving individuals who bring the gift of who they are to their beautiful work!

We keep our skills fresh through workshops every semester and advanced trainings offered by Music Together!

She began her adult career in Kansas City as a folk singer at local popular restaurants and night spots and also appeared as a singer/dancer with the renowned Tivoli Playhouse at Worlds of Fun Theme Park.

Miss Woodson's hotel entertaining took her to Dallas, Texas where she made an appearance on the AM Television Show and later took her to Los Angeles, California where she doubled as an agent for McConkey Artists Agency in Hollywood.

She spent ten years overseas where she shared her love of music with audiences in some of the leading hotels of the world, including The Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden, Brenners Park Hotel and Spa in Baden Baden, Germany, The Estrel Residence Hotel in Berlin, Germany,  Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden, Germany, the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, India, and Renaissance Resorts in Tokyo and Okinawa, Japan to name a few.

Sarah Baxter- Teacher

Sarah Baxter was raised in a very musical family and grew up singing and dancing. This naturally led to her later studies and professional involvement in the performing arts. She co-produced and performed in a local art show for six years, as well as singing and dancing as a soloist and with various ensembles- ranging from choral music to Bollywood!
Sarah is a returning and much-loved registered instructor for South Coast Music Together and we are delighted at her return!
Her deep love of music, her uninhibited joy and generosity in sharing and communicating that joy with others makes Sarah a natural and terrific educator.  A proud mommy, she is thrilled to share the love of music and family with her little one and yours!
As she puts it, "I live and breathe music,- so let's make Music Together!

Sarah has been awarded Certification level 1 by our national organization for excellence in teaching and articulating the Music Together curriculum and philosophy.  Welcome back Sarah!

Becky Human- Teacher

Becky Human brings an innate love of music to everything she does! She grew up in a musical family where playing with music was as natural as walking and talking! And she was known as the loudest singer in her preschool choir.

After learning piano and guitar she began writing her own music.
She studied choral performance at Milwaukee High School of the Arts where she was featured in musicals and participated in composition projects.

Becky received a BMus in Music Therapy from Chapman University in Orange, CA, focusing on therapeutic work and studying how music is processed in our thinking. She then completed her clinical training at MusicWorx, Inc., an internationally recognized internship site for music therapists located in San Diego, CA.

In 2017, she began teaching Music Together Family classes. Since then, Becky was awarded Level 1 Certification by our national organization for excellence in teaching and articulating the Music Together curriculum and philosophy.

She and her children are a bona fide "Music Together Family," as they attended classes with Miss Judy and Miss Julie at South Coast Music Together and still sing the songs together at home.

Her experience both as a participating mom in class as well as a Music Together teacher, have given her special insight and understanding that she brings to her family-friendly lesson plans each week.

We are thrilled to welcome Becky as a treasured member of our faculty!

Julie Boies- Teacher

Julie Boies grew up in a family of teachers. Says Ms.Boies ," My parents loved music and it was always playing in our home. My mom played guitar and had a repertoire of traditional songs and folk songs we would all sing together as a  family. She taught us to harmonize our voices and we loved to practice that together, eventually expanding our harmonies to songs we heard on the radio. My sister and I loved to play dress up and dance around the living room to our parents many record albums."

That early love of music and musical play carried through to Julie's adulthood too.
She spent time as a children's entertainer in her journey of musical play and sharing joy with little ones but would eventually decide to trade her role as an entertainer for a new role as an early childhood educator and facilitator!

Having worked as a nanny for over 20 years she loves to bring music and art to the children she cares for. This  led to Julie discovering  Music Together as a participant and caregiver and she fell in love with the program from day one!

One good thing naturally followed another and after completing the national Music Together teacher training Julie was hired as an instructor for South Coast Music Together. She has since been awarded Certification Level 1 from our national organization for excellence in articulation of the Music Together curriculum and philosophy!

Julie also brings the unique perspective of having participated as both a nanny in our classes as well as a teacher which enhances her skills as a good lesson planner,- intuitively  making the activities easily accessible to everyone.
We love the natural way Julie connects with little ones, her wonderful silly quotient and also the way she has grown as a musician, having taken instruction in ukulele, guitar, drumming and singing as well!

She brings those beautiful qualities and her lifelong love of learning to her teaching and we are delighted to welcome Julie back to the staff of South Coast Music Together!
